“Locals Now!” recently interviewed Pat and Elizabeth Kerwin for our Featured Boomer column. The Kerwins moved to Nassau Grove in Lewes on January 3rd 2013 from Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Patrick was President of Patrick T. Kerwin, Inc, a Commercial Refrigeration HVAC company, while Elizabeth’s served as Vice President of Patrick T. Kerwin, Inc.

LN: Where else did you consider before buying in Delaware?
EK: “We considered Wilmington, NC, Coastal South Carolina and Southern New Jersey as our other options before choosing Delaware as our destination.”
LN: What were the most important factors in making your choice?
PK: “The property taxes and no state or pension taxes. Next, the location – close to the coast and to DC, Maryland and Philadelphia. We also enjoy having access to all the beaches and beautiful small towns in the area.”
LN: “Why did you choose Nassau Grove?”
EK: “We chose the development because the neighborhood itself is beautiful. We chose the home because of the open floor plan the Jasmine offered. And… we were able to get a private backyard that backs up to the woods. Finally, the people living in our community are warm and friendly. They are all about helping each other and we love that feeling of closeness.”
LN: What are your plans now that you are “localizing” (loving our casual active lives, now!)
EK: “I enjoy cooking, biking and walking with my walking group. I also volunteer and enjoy socializing with everyone in our community. ” PK: “I like to golf and bike and hope to golf more in the future.”
LN: “What’s on the Kerwins’ Bucket List?”
PK: “We would like to do more traveling. We want to travel to Italy, back to Ireland, California and the Midwestern states.
The Kerwins recently returned from that trip to California, visiting their daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons. They will travel to Florida to visit friends and family ending up in Marco Island.
