This month’s Featured Boomers, Lorraine and Dominic, relocated to Delaware from Connecticut

The Nespolis moved to Lewes from Middlebury, Connecticut, in March of 2019. Lorraine had lived in CT since 1985; Dominic was born and raised in CT. This is their second marriage and when I asked how they met, they shared that it was on the original Match.com!
Dominic spent his entire career with Sikorski Aircraft, while Lorraine was a radiology technician for 24 years. Both agreed, they knew when it was time to retire and relocate somewhere near the ocean. They considered a move to Florida since Lorraine’s Mom was in The Villages, but they found it too hot in the summer. They researched North Carolina, especially the Outer Banks and New Hampshire, but when they found Lewes, they fell in love with the combination of Historic Town and access to the ocean.
Then they found the perfect place
When Debbie Shearer, their Active Adults Realty agent, took them to Coastal Club, it sealed the deal. They wanted an extremely active community with lots of amenities and wooded lots, but not an age-restricted 55+ community. They chose one of the nicest wooded lots in the entire community and their home is designed to take advantage of the lovely setting.
At the Design Center, they were well prepared and made excellent choices while staying within budget. Lorraine loves looking at floorplans and she maximized the one level Whimbrel, really opening up the space to overlook the woods. They had the builder add a screened porch, where we sat for this interview, but I’m told that the porch was built for Quincy, their cat. That explains the evil eye; I must have been in Quincy’s seat!
Lorraine has advice for our future buyers – “For a polished look, go with the patio from the builder rather than an aftermarket patio. It provides a better transition from indoor to outdoor space.” She complimented Debbie Shearer on her support during the process. She was there but gave Lorraine plenty of time and space to absorb the choices and make good decisions.
Where is their family? Dominic’s daughter is still in Connecticut with 2 grandchildren; Lorraine has one daughter living in Seattle but her second daughter is in North Carolina with 1 grandson and another on the way. From Lewes, they have an easy trip north to CT and south to NC to visit family.
Their Bucket List
Dominic plans a lot more fishing and they both enjoy biking and walking the Gordon’s Pond Trail in Cape Henlopen State Park. They plan to get back into Pickleball on the courts in Coastal Club and they belong to the Wine Club. In April 2020, they are booked on a Viking cruise around the boot of Italy. One of their neighbors has been a Travel Agent and is now scheduling trips for neighbors.
Their Favorite Restaurants
I always like to find out what restaurants appeal to our clients and here is the Napoli’s list so far –
- Mariachi in Rehoboth – this name comes up often
- Matt’s Fish Camp in Lewes
- Kindle in Lewes, especially during the winter on the Local’s Special night for Filet Mignon
- J D Shuckers on Tuesday nights for Prime Rib!
Have they found a good pizza place yet? No, but they’re hoping for something like Pepe’s to come to Delaware. I have been to Pepe’s in New Haven, CT, for their famous White Pizza, and it is legendary. Maybe the owners will follow all of our Connecticut clients to Delaware?
