Numerous Independence Day celebrations are taking place up and down Coastal Delaware. Some happen on the 4th of July and others the day before. Make your plans to join in the fun and patriotic commemorations. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket. Pack a picnic meal and come out with friends. Wherever you like to celebrate, you’re sure to see lots of red, white, and blue along with some incredible fireworks displays.
Events Happening July 3rd
Fireworks Cruise on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, CMLF at 43 Henlopen Drive, Lewes
From 6:45pm through 11pm cruise the waterway to the entertainment of Glass Onion and Just Kidding Around DJ. The event is rain or shine. Early bird tickets (prior to June 25) are $30 for adults and $15 for children at Eventbrite.com.
Rehoboth Beach Fireworks
Delight in the colorful fireworks put on by Zambelli Fireworks at approximately 9:30pm. The display is launched from the beach south of Rehoboth Avenue and visible up and down the boardwalk and beach. Depending on the weather the fireworks may launch any time after 8:00pm.
July 4th Celebrations
Bethany Beach Fourth of July Parade, the intersection of Garfield Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue
The parade begins at 12noon. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the parade. Come out and see the floats, bands, walkers, and military groups. Some of the bands featured include the Delmar District Pipe Band, the Downtown Dixieland Band, the 1st Delaware Regiment, the German Oompah Band, and so many more.
Dewey Beach Fireworks, 9:00pm, front of Northbeach at 125 McKinley Street
Bring your lawn chairs and watch the fireworks show.
Dover Fourth of July Celebration, Downtown Dover
Join all the festivities happening downtown with craft vendors, tours, history, children’s activities, a 6:00pm parade, music, and a grand firework’s show. The parade route is along State Street, from Hazel Road to The Green, with the reviewing stand on The Green. The day’s events begin at 9:00am and conclude with fireworks around 9:20pm.
Old-Fashioned 4th of July in Lewes
Beginning at 9:00am children will enjoy the old-fashioned games on Second Street, followed by the Independence Day Lewes Boat Parade in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal at 1:30pm. At 5:00pm the Doo-Dah Parade will step off from Lloyd’s Market on Savannah Road. Watch the fireworks display at dusk off Lewes Beach.
Laurel’s 4th of July Celebration, Laurel
All day something will be happening around the town of Laurel. From a car and truck show to the Stars and Stripes 5K Run/Walk, games, a parade, and evening fireworks. This year marks the 25th anniversary of celebrations. The race starts at 5:00pm at Central Avenue Bridge.
