The Sullivans are the epitome of Active Adults

Meet Featured Boomers Barb & Greg Sullivan

In only two months, the Sullivans have become true locals in their new home in Milton, Delaware. They love the small town feeling in Milton. From their home in Cannery Village, they can walk to everything in town. The Dogfish Brewery is right in their neighborhood and so is the weekly Milton Farmers Market, every Friday afternoon.

Barb and Greg first contacted us in late 2017. They had decided to focus on Delaware and we paired them with Donna Beck. Greg says it was the perfect match and they clicked from the beginning. Donna spent many days over several visits showing them different communities in the Bethany area as well as Lewes and Milton. They wanted a real town, not just an isolated community. This was what drew them to Milton. The area reminded them of the town in which they grew up–Hanover, PA, but it is so much closer to the beach! The people are nice and there are great locally-owned restaurants. Irish Eyes has become a favorite. They chose Cannery Village due to its location but also because the community has both indoor and outdoor pools plus a fitness center.

After living in Hanover for more than 50 years, they moved south to Georgia where Greg had taken a position with the DOD as a Federal Agent for NSA. That’s all he could say, or he’d have to shoot me. But seriously, it used to be a rule that you never said what you did, just that you worked for the DOD.

Barb worked as a Paralegal in Georgia where they lived for 11 years. When Greg retired from NSA, he was hired by Augusta National as a driver. His background and Top-Secret Clearance were critical qualifications and he became the chosen driver for both members and Masters Champions. In fact, he went back to work the Masters this year, and yes, he was Tiger Woods’ driver when he was declared the winner. Other than that tidbit, what happens at the Masters, stays at the Masters! By the way, Greg has never played golf.

As soon as I met Barb, I knew she had to be a runner but I learned she is also a Triathlete! She has competed in the IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon three times. She was 58 when she competed for the first time. Even before moving here, she had connected with triathletes here and signed up with friends to do the Escape the Cape Triathlon & Open Water Classic being held in Cape May on June 2, 2019! I asked Barb how she felt about the 12-foot jump off the Cape May Lewes Ferry to begin the race. She’s prepared! Yes, she will be wearing a wet suit since the water temp is only 64 degrees now. Experienced participants have told her to “just put your goggles and swim cap on, put your hands over your face and on top of your head, jump off and cross your ankles so you go into the water straight”.

Best of luck to you Barb and I look forward to the results!

Barb and Greg enjoy biking together and exploring all the great bike trails here. They especially like the trails through Cape Henlopen State Park and the Gordons Pond Trail. They commented that every run or every bike event seems to end with a beer and that’s perfect. They bike regularly to Revelation Craft Brewing in Rehoboth when they don’t just walk over to Dogfish!

Travel is also on their Bucket List with Ireland at the top of the list. They are going to New England this Fall for the very first time and look forward to traveling the USA by car.

Their lovely home in Cannery Village sports their favorite Clemson colors on the front porch. That, plus the turquoise front door, tells you a lot about the Sullivans. They’re fun and very active and loving their well-earned retirement in Milton, Delaware.

We would love to help you find your dream home in Delaware and live your best retirement life here. You can get your Delaware home search started right here on our website, or contact one of our Active Adults Realty Agents today.
