Shop Small Saturday is a day dedicated to patronizing community-based businesses that have a positive impact right where you live.

In 2010 American Express founded Shop Small: Small Business Saturday. This cause helps support local economies and promotes vibrant, diverse communities. It happens each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and it’s dedicated to getting people out to support their local businesses. Join community movements across the nation who are recognizing the importance of shoppers, business owners, and organizers who promote community togetherness. These are the brick and mortar shops and small businesses with community roots. It’s a way to rally around those same businesses that support and give to our schools, our organizations, and our causes when we fundraise and ask for their sponsorship.

The shopping scene around Lewes, where our Active Adults Realty office is based, is fortunate to have a varied selection of specialty shops and boutiques. Our business directory showcases a some of our favorite community businesses. And, don’t forget that shopping in Delaware is always tax-free. After spending time at the beach or visiting our many cultural and historic destinations, you can enjoy a wide range of great local restaurants. There are numerous ways to celebrate Shop Small Saturday and let your community know how much you appreciate their efforts.

On November 25 when you are out-and-about, be sure to visit your favorite place but take some time to discover new-to-you businesses.
