What on-site dining is available in our Delaware Active Adult Communities?
Which amenities matter most to you? To some of our clients, it is important to have an indoor swimming pool in the clubhouse. To others, a golf course community is a must. But, the other day, we got a call from a couple who wanted only a community that had its own restaurant.
Delaware is a small state and our active adult communities are not as large as some in states like Arizona, Florida or the Carolinas. In those states, it could be a long drive to restaurants outside the community, but in Delaware, nothing is that far away. Only 3 of our 55+ communities offer dining of some kind on-site, Heritage Shores, Independence and Longacre Village. But there are also many all-age communities with dining options that are popular with our Baby Boomer clients.
Quick Guide to Communities with on-site dining options –
Heritage Shores, Bridgeville, DE – This 55+ community offers 3 restaurants on property. Passwater’s Restaurant is a full-service restaurant offering fine entrees and seasonal fare. The 1730 Tavern, the perfect 19th hole, is a great spot for dining after a round of golf or lite fare anytime. The new Sugarbeet Market has become a popular hangout for residents and golfers alike for casual dining and Happy Hour.
Independence, Millsboro, DE – There is a Banquet Hall with a catering kitchen at Indy, a 55+ community, that can be rented for special events. For homeowners, there is also a bar and cafe run by the homeowners where you might find tomato soup and grilled cheese on special days or perhaps a hot dog to go with your beer.
Longacre Village, Dover, DE – located within walking distance of this 55+ clubhouse is a strip center with several restaurants including an Italian restaurant and a Mexican restaurant.
Bayside, Selbyville, DE – The Cove Bar & Grill is an integral part of living at Bayside. Both lunch and dinner are offered daily overlooking the pond and the Freeman Stage. Full Breakfast is available weekends. Coming Summer 2018 is the brand new Point Pool Bar & Grille in a fantastic setting with views of the Assawoman Bay.
The Peninsula, Millsboro, DE – this is truly country club living with multiple dining options. The Terrace Grill is a casual full-service restaurant for lunch and dinner right next to the adult pool. The Clubhouse Restaurant offers fine dining in an elegant setting and, weather permitting, on the wraparound terrace overlooking the golf course.
Bear Trap Dunes, Ocean View, DE – The Den Bar & Grill is open to everyone! A must-try coastal restaurant and event venue featuring exciting twists on classic pub fare. Enjoy an expansive beer, wine and handcrafted cocktail list and signature crabby tots that are legendary. Sit outdoors by the wood-burning fire pits with a view, gather around the TVs to catch a game, or partake in community revelry. Conveniently located off Rt. 26 just minutes from downtown Bethany Beach. The Den Bar & Grill and clubhouse have been completely renovated with a chic coastal vibe.
Bay Forest, Ocean View, DE – Open seasonally, the Bay Forest Pub & Grill offers food and drink indoors, on the patio or poolside.
Coastal Club, Lewes, DE – The Lighthouse Club offers both an active Cocktail lounge and coffee lounge. During the season, poolside casual dining is available.
Paynter’s Mill, Milton, DE – Within this lovely planned community there is a great restaurant called A Different Kitchen that has gained the attention of foodies from the beach to Milton. There is also a deli called Dagwoods for great sandwiches.
Villages of Five Points, East and West, Lewes, DE – This is a mixed-use planned community with a large commercial center. In addition to a Grocery Store, pharmacy, bank, hair salon, and more, there are several restaurants and a deli. My favorite is FishOn!, part of the SoDel Concepts group. Their Happy Hour is legend! Arenas Deli is another favorite with the best sandwiches and salads. Around the circle is The Green Turtle, the perfect place to watch your favorite team on the many TVs throughout the bar and dining room.
As new communities and neighborhoods are under development, we will continue to update you on more on-site dining options in our great Delaware Active Adult Communities and beyond.
