Did you know that Delaware is an Attorney State for real estate settlements?

Some states are “title states” which means that a Title Company handles all the details of a real estate transfer and settlement. In Delaware, once an Agreement of Sale is fully executed, agreed to by both the buyers and sellers, we then bring in a Real Estate Attorney. The attorney will handle the title search and other details necessary to transfer the property.

The Attorney we recommend is Heidi Gilmore. Heidi Gilmore is an equity partner with the firm focusing her practice on all aspects of real estate from commercial to residential properties.

She handles real estate closings, zoning and subdivision matters before the local jurisdiction, as well as banking matters. She also handles business planning and estate planning. Heidi practiced with and served as Managing Partner for one of Sussex County’s largest law firms. She moved her practice in April of 2014 to her current firm, Baird Mandalas Brockstedt, LLC, in order to serve the needs of her clients on a more state-wide level.

Heidi has an office in Lewes, Georgetown and Dover, but travels statewide to meet with her client’s needs. Heidi’s passion is helping people. Heidi serves several charitable foundations and non-profits. She teaches at Delaware Technical and Community College. She is an active member of Lewes, Rehoboth, Bethany/Fenwick and Georgetown Chambers of Commerce. She also serves on the board of the Bank of Delmarva.
