Do people 55+ always buy in a 55+ Community?

55-plus or all-ages copyNo, in fact we find that more and more of our over 55 Buyer clients are choosing to buy in All Ages Communities.

What is the primary marketing appeal of an age restricted 55+ community? Is it that no children under the age of 19 will be living next to you? Or is it the amenities that come included? Many people start out thinking that you have to be in a 55+ community to get the following –

  • Clubhouse
  • Fitness Center
  • Activities, lots of them
  • Outdoor Pool and maybe an Indoor Pool
  • Walking Trails
  • Pickle Ball
  • Lawn Maintenance, especially grass cutting

When we show them that they can get all of these services in some All Ages Communities, it turns out that the age restriction by itself is often not important. In fact, the HOA fee in some 55+ communities does not even include the grass cutting – it costs extra.

When my parents retired, I asked my stepfather why they didn’t move to a 55+ community instead of the neighborhood they chose in Bethlehem, PA. He told me he didn’t want to be around just old people; he enjoyed being Papa John to all of the neighborhood children.

Age Targeted

In Southern Delaware there are many “Age Targeted” communities. The builders and developers understand that a large percentage of their Buyers will be relocating here in anticipation of or at retirement. But their reasons for choosing  Coastal Delaware are not because they want to live in a 55+ age restricted community. Think about it, when The Villages first began, there was absolutely nothing else in Lady Lake, Florida. The only reason someone moved there was to move into The Villages. Over time, it has evolved into its own real town that encompasses multiple counties! It might even be larger than the whole state of Delaware.

My point is – Coastal Delaware has always been a place people came to for the beach, the restaurants, the lifestyle. I like to say that all of Coastal Delaware is one big Active Adult Community.

Something for Everyone

This is why we say we have something for everyone and every day with a new client brings that home. So, if you do want a 55+ community with an indoor pool, an outdoor pool and a great fitness center, we have a few of those. But, if you prefer a community that is as close as possible to the resort towns, the beach and good bike trails, we have that as well.

The better we get to know you, the more we can help you find the right place that will feel like home for years to come.

Location, Location, Location

Remember, the one thing you can never change once you have bought a home is the LOCATION!
