Meet our Featured Boomer, Carol Fezuk!

featured Boomer-carolCarol Fezuk, our Active Adults Marketing Manager and Featured Boomer, moved this spring into The Plantations neighborhood in Lewes. Born in Northeast Pennsylvania, Carol relocated in 1990 to Lewes from living on the Main Line in Philadelphia and began a 14 year career in the publishing business in Rehoboth Beach.

After the sale of that business, she began working as a freelance real estate marketing and design specialist where she met Kathy and Bill Bell. After many years serving in the freelance designer capacity and a couple of years working in marketing and wedding venue sales at Nassau Valley Vineyards, Carol came on board as the Active Adults Realty Marketing Manager. That was 4 years ago.

As the Active Adults Realty Marketing Manager, she is responsible for the company’s branding and logo, and for the firm’s brochures, flyers, advertising, postcards and other marketing materials. She produces the brokerage’s newsletters; creates special community letters developed by the agents; writes, posts edits, and curates the Active Adults Realty blog, handles email marketing, maintains a calendar of events, and coordinates the company’s social media presence. Carol’s duties also include new listing marketing and listing maintenance and website updates. “When I started we had only 5 listings. Now, at times, the Team has up to 35 properties ready and waiting for relocating Boomers to consider buying.”

Before buying a condo in Lewes, Delaware, Carol, a 25 year Lewes renter, thought that she would eventually relocate to be near retired friends who had moved from Delaware to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The factors contributing to Fezuk’s decision to buy a Delaware home and not to rent again included: the development of Showfield, a new Lewes neighborhood being built on the property where she rented; her career at Active Adults Realty; a great group of “friends” I call family… and being close to my Mom in Scranton, PA. Adding to those factors, the superb skills of my REALTOR®, Bill Bell, who helped me make my decision to buy versus rent; to buy a first-floor condo versus a single family home; and to see that buying was a better (smarter) fit than renting another home in Lewes.”

The process was swift. Carol honed in on single family homes and condos in the Lewes area. “I looked at my first home at the beginning of March and began the pre-approval process to be ready to make an offer when a home in the Plantations became available. The time was right, by the middle of March, a condo became available and we made the offer. I immediately began downsizing after 25 years living in a single family home while adhering to the 10 Commandments of Mortgage. Many thanks to Pete Green at Atlantic Bay Mortgage! We were ready for the settlement table two days early.”  (R-U Downsizing? Purple Heart in Delaware is a great organization and by donating you are helping our veterans. They pick up many household items. Alas, no furniture.)

Carol plans to get involved with the Plantations HOA and Condo Council, volunteers with the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival, loves to cook and host dinner parties for friends and gets out to hear some straight ahead jazz and blues as often as possible. She hopes to get back to watercolor painting and wood sculpture. “On my Bucket List is to find the time to travel back to visit my friends in and to explore more of Costa Rica and New Mexico. It would be great to plan a European river cruise and visit Machu Picchu, Peru and Easter Island, as well.”
